Weeding as Spiritual Practice
Gardening is an active participation in the deepest mysteries of the universe. ~ Thomas Berry
I spent part of the day absorbed in one of my favorite contemplative practices: Weeding.
There’s something addictive about it. Just one more…
Something that happens is my awareness of my energy field intensifies and I become conscious that there’s no edge, no boundary.
There is movement and sound and the awareness of my body and its specific sensations, but also the awareness of the other beings present in the same energy field. Plants. Birds. My dogs nearby.
There’s a flowing.
Mostly, what I become aware of is a mutual sensing of the collective. Wholeness.
